Okay, I just tried Godwin births for 1900 on ancestry and they were fine. Also 1909 and then 1910. But if you search for 1911 it gives you those with surname Godwin and also those with mother's maiden name Godwin. If you take a range of years that includes 1911 you get the ones with mother's maiden name Godwin as well as those with surname Godwin. So at least it does look as though it is including extra ones rather than leaving some out! Kate.

Kim, it is doing the same for me. If I were you I would contact ancestry and tell them about it. And in the meantime, do your search on FreeBMD. You could always do one year at a time on there, or even one quarter at a time. I will mess about and see if I can figure out how to get round it on ancestry. Kate.

Just tried to do a birth search on Ancestry for Godwin and it only comes up with those entries that have Godwin as the 'mother's maiden name.' none with godwin as bab'ys surname It worked ok yesterday for me why is it different today. I didn't put anything in the mother's maiden name because i want to look them all up from 1900! Would use bmd but Ancestry I thoughy laid out better! have I entered something wrong? All I put in was Godwin in the last name slot?? Confused Kim
