If you have an LDS Family History Centre near you (addresses are on www.familysearch.org), then you can order parish records on microfilm for just a few pounds and they keep them for about a month to give you time to view them. You can print copies from the records. Depending on where you live, this can work out cheaper than a visit to London. Kath. x

Well, I guess you have checked that anyone married/remarried orwas born after registration which could give you some more info to go backwards before that date if you buy the cert? Otherwise afraid it is a trip to the area office or a message on Records Board to see if anyone has local records on cd?

I'm struggling to trace my paternal line beyond 1797 at Linton Kent using IGI and various other online records. So whats my next move? is it a trip to the Kent archive office to view parish records or is there something else i could be doing? Thanks
