Hi Kate thanks for your reply, as i know all her details of where and when she died i will apply to York to do a search. Thanks once again for your help Julie

Julie, your local county record office may have the National Probate Calendar available, but if they only have microfiches then it will only go up to 1943. But maybe they will have years after that in bound volumes like my local county record office (Nottinghamshire) does. Also worth asking your local probate sub-registry in case they have indexes going back that far. But if there is nowhere near you that has the indexes, it only costs £5 to get York to do a search and send you a copy of the will (if there is one), and assuming you know the full name and address of the deceased and when she died, it should be pretty straightforward. If you look at the probate service website at www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk it will explain it all, and then click on 'Forms & Guidance' and enter PA1S where it says 'Form number' and that will give you the form to fill in (you will have to print it out as you can't order online yet!) Hi Hoping someone can help please, where can i access probate records, as im trying to find if my gt grandmother left a will in 1947. Any help much appreicated. Julie
