Got a photo of my Dad sat on a bunk, in a wooden dorm, always led to belive it was taken whilst he was serving in Malaysia in the early 50's. With great inconsidertion he is only wearing shorts and boots so no help with anything to say what regiment. Would a young man from Leeds, Yorks have served in the Sherwood Forrester Regiment, for what i presume would have been his National service? Thanks if you can clear that for me. THanks anyhow, Joan

Hi Linda After a quick telephone call to Nottingham Castle (lovely peeps there lol) The only regiment that served Malaysia in the 1950's was the Sherwood Forresters. (all my Binch Family served with these) You can call the curator of the Sherwood Forrester Regiment who may be able to give you info or maybe even copies of photo's (im gonna call in a sec and try my luck lol as I also saw a pic of my Great grandad Alonzo Binch at the Castele) His name is Eddie Edwards and his no is 0115 9465415. Hope this helps xxxxxxxx Luv Angie xxxxxxxx

Linda I might be able to tell you later what your cousin Bill's regiment was. My Uncle Ernie was also in Malaysia in 1950 (Ernest Binch my mums elder brother) I also saw pics of him with a few other soldiers, my Auntie has loads of pics of him & his friends. (maybe one was Bill lol) I will call my Auntie Eileen and ask her what regiment he was in. BTW Nottingham Castle has a war bit including the lads that served in Malaysia (seen my Uncle Ernies pic there too but couldnt take a photo cus of the position of it grrrr) Luv Angie xxxxx

I have acquired from my mom a photo of a handsome young man in uniform (cousin bill) on the back of the photo it just says malaysia 1950. I think he was probably in the South Staffs but is there anywhere I can look up where the regiment was at that time? Thanks Linda
