Awww I didnt know it had been on the board Kath :( I pinched it off another site lol. Thats a fantastic idead Kath might do that and put them on my nanna & grandads graves xxxxxx My way back ancestors ive found out where buried and searched and searched but a lot of the inscriptions are so badly damaged theyre unreadable. This inscription made me think about my brother that died in 1964 aged 4 months before I was born my grandparents who all died either before I was born or within a couple of weeks of me being born, and the ancestors ive been searching for for the past few months. luv angie xxxxxxx

Yes, it's lovely. It has been posted quite a few times on the boards. I remember someone suggesting that it was ideal for printing out at a quite small size and getting laminated, so that it can be attached to flowers left at ancestor's graves when we find them, which I have done in the past. The words are so appropriate. Some of the words on your version are ever so slightly different to mine, but almost the same. Kath. x

That's very nice and fits in beautifully with my day. I spent some time this afternoon tracking down death and burial details for my tree and found it very moving. In some ways it's sad to think of those who have gone before, particularly the ones who died young or in cruel circumstances, but by looking them up and remembering I feel that we can pay tribute as well. I now have a list of graves to visit and I look forward to some tidying up, laying fresh flowers and making sure that my living family remember their dead. Louise

Dear Ancestor Your headstone stands among the rest, Neglected and alone, The name and date are chiselled out, And details unknown, It reaches out to all who care, It is too late to mourn, You did not know that I exist, You died and I was born. Yet each of us are cells of you, In flesh, in blood , in bone. Our blood contrats and beats a pulse. Entirely not our own. Dear Ancestor the place you filled. One hundred years ago. Spreads out among the ones you left. Who would have loved you so. I wonder if you lived and loved. I wonder if you know. That someday I would find this spot. And come to visit you
