If you can't find a birth record, chances are that the baby was stillborn. Stillbirths are recorded on a separate register which is closed to the public. Only parents or siblings of a stillborn child can get the stillbirth certificate. Details here; www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/stillbirths/ |

Hi there, I am quite new to this and wondered if anyone could give me some advice about an elusive birth/death record please. I am trying to trace details of my grandparents first born child WENDY LLOYD who died as an infant/was stillborn. All I know is as follows: Mother DOROTHY WEST married GEORGE WILLIAM LLOYD on 27/12/37 in Barnsley 1st child WENDY LLOYD born before 2nd child IVOR LLOYD 19/03/42 Barnsley 3rd child BARRY LLOYD 1945 Barnsley I have searched Births and Deaths for Wendy Lloyd from 1937 to 1942, also under West and un-named Lloyds. Even tried Dorothy Wendy just in case and have hit a brick wall. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I could look next please? Thanks Dawn |
