My great great grandad Samuel Wright Fox was born at Wymeswold Leicestershire in 1854. Found him on all census but heres the mystery. He married my great great nanna Elizabeth Wheelband from Loughborough b 1851 in 1875 they had 4 children together George b 1877 William b 1880 Elizabeth b 1881 & Lottie b 1883 (my great nanna) Prob starts when I think Elizabeth dies (think ive found the death but not 100% sure yet) I think she died sometime between 1883 & 1891 (as she dissapears from census) the kids are with grandparents in the 1891 census Samuel is with his brother in Nottingham. Samuel remarried apr may jun 1892 at loughborough. they had a child James Edward Fox b 1894. But I cant find who he married. It must have been another Elizabeth as it says on the 1901 census for James that his parents are Samuel Wright Fox & Elizabeth. Thing is cant find another woman living with Samuel so what happened to her? and who was she? Totally confused again. Luv Angie xxx |

If you look for the childs birth reference and get the certificate, this will give you his mother's full maiden name. Maybe she, too, died before the next census. Kath. x |

According to Ancestry's partial marriage index, Samuel Wright Fox married Ann Smith in June qtr.of 1892, unless there are others on the page that have not been transcribed yet. As it is they are the only two people that show up on the same page. Kath. x |

Sorry Angela but where on the 1901 census does it say that James had a mother called Elizabeth? All I can see is an 18-year old big sister called Lottie Elizabeth. The mother is not there - could be elsewhere having a baby? - but Samuel's older brother is staying with the family. |

You're right Paul. No mention of Elizabeth being the mother of James in the 1901 census. Kath. x |

A Samuel Wright Fox was born in Nottingham in J/A/S 1891. Could this be a son of Samuel and Elizabeth? Could she have died in childbirth? It's three months after the census, so you would have expected her to show up even if she was six months pregnant. |

Perhaps this birth in 1891 was to the second wife before they were actually married?? Kath. x |
