It basically means a farmer. I had thought it specifically meant someone who works with animals, but apparently it can also mean a crop farmer. |

I have a birth certificate for the year 1856 on which the father's occupation is described as 'Husbandman'. Could someone please tell me what a 'Husbandman' was? Many thanks Lyndsey |
