Does anyone live here or nearby? I looked in the graveyard there recently for a Prissick grave but couldn't find one. I wonder if there is anything inside the church, it was locked when I visited. Is there anyone who could look for me as I can't visit again for a while? Thanks Anne.

Anne, Have you tried doing a name search on GR for Prissick, I noticed there are two others looking for that name. Perhaps they can help you. It's a long shot, but you never know. Ann

Hi Ann, I'm in touch with one other person looking at Prissicks and she'd like the same info as me! I'll check again though, thanks Anne.

These Prissick burials are on my NBI discs. They may never have had a headstone, many could only afford a wooden cross and even if they did, lots have been removed 26 Jul 1747 Christopher PRISSICK Yorks N/R Carlton in Cleveland, St Botolph 24 Mar 1748 George PRISSICK Yorks N/R Carlton in Cleveland, St Botolph 19 Oct 1781 Ann PRISSICK Yorks N/R Carlton in Cleveland, St Botolph 19 Dec 1771 Christopher PRISSICK Yorks N/R Carlton in Cleveland, St Botolph 22 Nov 1766 Edmond PRISSICK Yorks N/R Carlton in Cleveland, St Botolph 28 Dec 1780 Elizabeth PRISSICK Yorks N/R Carlton in Cleveland, St Botolph 28 May 1772 Jane PRISSICK Yorks N/R Carlton in Cleveland, St Botolph Linda

Thanks for these Linda, I'm sure they will be useful. Anne

Don't forget that many (perhaps the majority) of burials had no headstone at all, although the church may have records of the position of the plot. Anne

Thanks Anne, The reason I thought there might be something in the church is because I've seen the will of Christopher Prissick and his request was that his body be returned to Carlton and be buried in a vault there. This was about 1720. Anne
