Had a lovely time, but, of course, missed the company on here (although, as you may have noticed, I did drop in once or twice). How are you all? |

is that young Michael Jones (20-and-a-half)? - I can't do that clever thing Merry does. I guess it's nearer 20-and-three-quarters now though Sarah :-) |

I thought you were Michael Jones too, but you have a very small GR reference number for one so young!!! And Michael Stephenson's is even smaller!!!! Merry |

Yep, that's me. I'm nearly there - my 20 3/4th birthday is next Wednesday. |

I'm getting confused (as usual). I had no idea what my number was, although if it's lower than most that's probably something to do with the fact that I've actually been a member of GR for several years, but only started taking an active interest in the last 15 months or so. |

So then Michael - tell us about your trip, how was Spain? |

My only trip there (2002) was disrupted a little by flash floods. |

Sorry to hear that - but my poor old mind is failing me, can you remind me of where you did go this year then? . |

Odessa, Sevastopol/Balaclava, Kiev, Paris, Versailles, Chartres, Tours & Loire chateaux, Lyons, Milan, Verona, Venice, Ljubljana and Bled. Had rather a lot of fun at the end, rafting down the Soca and canyoning around Bled. My travel blog has now expired but I can post the entries here if anyone's interested. |

Sounds wonderful Michael. One of my rellies managed a granite mine outside Odessa in 1870 and came home for Christmas - bet that was an experience too!!! Is Odessa worth a visit, please? I imagine it having wide boulevards and some rather regal turn of the century buildings. Jay |

Hello my lovely boy. Glad you had such a wonderful time. |

Thank you everyone. Horatia - yes I did, and will, as promised, send them to those who requested it - just might take a little while, though, as I've got nearly 1000 photos to sort through. Odessa's worth seeing if you happen to be in Ukraine anyway, but it's probably not worth going all the way from the UK solely to see it - Kiev and Crimea are more interesting. The biggest attraction is the Potemkin Steps, of cinematic fame; there's also an opera house, a few statues and museums, none of which is particularly special. 20 3/4 today! |
