David That's the Site that Louise was looking at - I find it extremely confusing too. But, Louise, are you SURE it was Ho2? Naturalisation Papers seem to be in HO1 as far as I can tell. Perhaps this thread would be better on Records, where you may pick up someone going to Kew who would be willing to look for you. Do state that it is a duplicate thread though! OC

Hi Don't know whether you can find where to look through this site. http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/ Regards David

I used to be a member of the anglo germany society. Do they have their own ho2 records then? I searched the Len Metzner indexes etc years ago and my lot weren't on. They aren't on any indexes apart from the ho2 one.

I have used a researcher twice to get some miliutary records. I can't remember the cost now but they quoted me the cost per hour and a rough idea of what might be needed. You can limit to one hour, two hour etc. It would cost me far more to travel to London and stay several nights. One was very productive in giving me some key details on my Taid which opened up his whole family history but the other did not find anything though I had very little information on a soldier probably being killed in Canada in the 1840s. Still not much further with him. MB

First, you should contact the Anglo-German Family History Society who have their own version of these records. I have to warn you though, they have a very mercenary attitude an'd won't get out of bed without payment.

About 20 years ago I was searching at Kew for my great great grandfather's immigration. I found an Anton Plitsch and others entering the country in 1848. This turned out to be his brother so I hoped he would be with him. I was with my sister at the time. We noted down the naturalisation certificate number and tried to order it but didn't really know what we were doing, didn't have much time and the staff in those days were just porters and very unhelpful. Since then my sister has fell out big time with the rest of the family. She sent me most of the family tree a few years back when she was still talking but not this reference number. I know it was in the HO2 series. I can't remember the port they arrived. I thought it was Lowestoft but I am not sure that Lowestoft was a port them. Failing that it must have been Dover. Once we found the right year it didn't take too long. Has anyone any idea how much a researcher would charge to look for me and sort the certificate out? Also what sort of things do the naturlisation certificates have on them? I am not too sure why this particular ancestor was naturalised because he died in the workhouse. I have tried fathoming out the national archives website but I am getting confused and I can't get to London for a good while. Any help would be much appreciated.
