Help with a Job Description

Hello all just wondered if anyone could help me i have an ancestor whose job description is either Govt Official (SP6) retired. Or Port Official (SP6) retired. Or is there a site i can look at, thankyou in anticipation of your replies. Rich. |

Either one is equally plausible, though a government official is more likely to be described as a civil servant. If you give us the reference we can try deciphering the handwriting. J |

Not that I know of, but are you able to find the person on more than one census? That might help. |

Hello John, the writing is on a marraige certificate, i recieved, the only way you could view it is if i e-mail a copy to you. Rich. |

Hi Rich I've emailed my interpretation to you. See what you think. The writing is worse than mine, and disgusting for a registrar. I presume the image on the certificate is a photocopy. If it's a transcription I'd complain. J |
