missing nan &grandad

please can anybody help me i am trying to find out what my paternal nan and grandads christian names were i never knew them and as my dad is no longer here i am stuck my dads name was benjamin douglas haige shingleton and he was born in 1918 i have tried the census and all different things to no avail is there anything else i can try dad and his siblings all came from dartford in kent thank you Doreen

Doreen If you get a copy of your Dad's birth certificate, this will tell you the names of his mother and father. OC

You need your Dad's birth certificate, it will have both his parents full names on. You can find the reference in the GRO index which is free to search on Ancestry. Here it is to get you started Shingleton, Benjamin D H, mother's mn Innes Dartford 2a 896 1918 Apil/May/June. With this you can buy the certificate for £7 from the GRO. Anne Brenda I think its page 896?
