Hi, I had not seen that one and it is earlier than the dates I have but I estimated them based on the information on his marriage and death certificates and a census record I found. I guess they may not have been truly accurate. I will try the next step and check the parish records and see what I can find. Thanks very much for your help. Lisa |

I don´t know if you have seen this one on the IGI its a member submitted entry so obviously needs to be checked against parish records John Forrest Event(s): Birth: 1846 Lesmahagow, Lanark, Scotland Parents: Father: William Forrest Mother: Catherine Leiper A little earlier than you suggest but just wondered if the middle name of Leiper could have been taken from mother (don´t know how common this name might have been in Scotland) |

Hi, I am trying to trace an ancestor called John Leiper Forrest. He was born circa 1851 and had a father called William. He was from Scotland and died in 1893. I have found three families in Scotland that seem to fit but I need to try and work out for definate where he was born. In the census records I have found so far all they say is Scotland. Can anyone give me any tips on anything else that might give me a clue to his place of birth? Are there any other records that might be of help? Any suggestions or tips would be a great help Thanks Lisa |
