I just entered the same details twice and then used the merge duplicate individuals. No problem on Ftm. On here I have just put this person appears twice in my tree in extra details.

hiya i probably should've said i'm using FTM 2005, but was using version 4 before that, (oh over 10yrs ago) suppose i really ought to have a play, but dont want to c*ck everything up Julie

I don't use FTM but I'm sure it can cope easily with this common situation. Why not try the Help? On my program you can select 'ignore duplicated ancestors' and other tricks - its was not a problem. anne

Hiya, The way I did it was to merge the 2 individuals on FTM and it all worked out nicely. I then just uploaded my tree on here and it seems ok.

hiya pippa i have the majority of info in FTM, and only bare bones on GR, as dont want to get bogged down with alot of hot matches that dont mean squat, if you see what i mean, am just fuddled as to how i can present it within FTM so i dont lose the plot Julie

I think it was just a ploy to save on cards and presents. Seriously it works ok if you upload your tree onto here from another program ie FTM otherwise it gets a bit complicated. My Norfolk relatives married their cousins.

I go two of them as well I have them on my tree on here but not anywhere else - so I'm not much use to you It was apparentley legal and common practice especially in villages as the couldn't go far to meet others in the mid 1800's hence why they married - Odd I know having the same grandparents!! Yes, its legal for cousins to marry. If it wasn' t the royal family would be in a right pickle! As to FTM, I don't know!
