My ancestor also died in Hammersmith and I was able to place some flowers on his gravesite after the fantastic people at the Hammersmith and Fulham Archives and Local History Centre told me not only where he was buried but also the plot number. Where did he die and when? London is so crowded, people aren't necessarily buried where they die any more. If he was born 1900 and aged 68 when he died, he must have died about 1968 or 1969. At that date, he might have been cremated. Is there no one in the family you could ask?
