I think that there is a 6 week period after the birth of a child for the parent's to register his/her birth. Does anyone know how long this was back in the 1860's? I wanted to know if it were possible for a child born 31st October to be registered in the March quarter of the following year?? Thanks, Annette |

Quite possible. Ant birth or death can appear in the index in the following quarter to the actual event.I have several in my tree, dates in the early January or April for instance appearing in the following quarter. Bear in mind though that pre 1875,there were many unregistered births. Glen |
