I was contacted today by the daughter of my grandfathers cousin. I went looking for the thread 'Kinship - the Right Name for the Distant Cousin' but the info has been deleted. So does anyone know what relation my grandfathers cousins daughter would be to me? Thanks Helen

Thanks OC Now why is it that when I got to it through 'my threads' I could only see my answers? guess I just learned another quirk of the GR boards lol Helen

Have just sketched it out - I think she is your third cousin once removed. Descended from your great-grandfather's sibling but one generation older than you. J

Philip It is one of the little mysteries of this Site. To see the whole thread, you have to click on 'show me all replies' otherwise you only get the bits you added to the thread youself. Why anyone would want to see ONLY their contributions to a thread I cannot imagine, but there you go. OC

That I did know. But I got to it through my threads and It only showed my responses so I thought the rest had been deleted. Now thanks to OC I know better :) Helen
