Hi Changed computers and was unable to put my PAF file on CD, as that function wasn't working. Would now like to send my tree from here to a new one. The last one was from IGI, but cant remember which one i downloaded. Advice would be appreciated. Ann |

Just download the latest version from Family Search. Your Gedcom File from the old computer will import into it. |

The 5.2 Basic Version should be alright. Then download your tree from here. Good luck Jim |

I think I will start again......... I have now downloaded a PAF file and its all ok. Exported my tree from GR, which they sent me as an attachment to an email. Abode Reader will not let me look at this, as its saying it wasn't decoded correctly??? So I still have an empty file. WHAT DO I DO NOW. Ann |

Try exporting it again, and if that doesn't work email GR and explain the problem. |

Why are you trying to look at it with Adobe Reader? That's for pdf files. Save the attachment to whichever folder you keep your gedcoms in. Then in PAF5, click on File - New to create a new .paf file. Give it whatever name you like, then click on File - Import and choose the gedcom exported from Genes. That will convert the gedcom to a .paf, and you'll be able to read it immediately from the PAF5 program. |

Right-click on the paf program (ending in .exe), left-click on Properties, and if there's a tick against 'Read only', untick the box. |
