In 1901, Mary H Bond is living at Camp Lane, Freshwater - and her occupation is Lodging House Keeper. As the adjacent property in 1891 was the Alum Bay Hotel, the Alum Bay Tap may have been the bar for non-residents. Just a thought! Barbara

The entry above yours says Alumbay Hotel, so the Tap (Tap room) could have been a pub attached to it?

Hi, I agree with that reading - Alum Bay is a bay on the Isle of Wight where the Needles are found. Mark

The address on 1891 looks like Alumbay Tap to me too - and the occupation reads Manager Alumbay Tap, to which Beer has been added as a later comment. Barbara

Hope somebody with better reading eyes can help on this, as I can't make out the occupation of Stephen Bond. Their address in the transcription says Alum Bay, but not sure if thats right either!
