I'm not sure whether this is the right thread to post this, so forgive me if it's not but I'm having trouble identifying my ancestors from their photos and wodnering whetehr anybody could help. I think the girl in the middle here my be my great great grandmother, born 1884 with her parents. Unfortunately they didn't write on the back of their photos and their is no one left to ask.. http://usera*imagecave*com/richie79/probsdixonfamilycirca1890*jpg This is her in later photos with her husband http://usera*imagecave*com/richie79/1921pubcloseup*jpg http://usera*imagecave*com/richie79/1940charlesandflo*jpg I think there is a strong resemblence, but not sure if I'm imagining it. Perhaps someone has a better eye for this sort of thing for me. Perhaps dating the photo would help, she was born 1884, so the photo would have to be 1890's I guess to fit I guess. I also have this. It's very badly damaged I'm afraid it's one of the old glass plates. I have guessed at between 1860'6 to 1880's but could be wildly wrong! http://usera*imagecave*com/richie79/badlydamageddageurotypeglassplateveryoldcirca1860-1880*jpg remove brackets There's a few others too I'd like dated if possible. but I'll leave it at those for now.

Hi Richard I have just taken a look at your photos. I can see a slight resemblence between the first photo you mention and the third. Am I mistaken or is the female wearing a similar locket in 2 of the photos. Jayne

Well spotted Jane. you have a better eye for detail than me! It does look similar I have another pic from 1942 http://usera*imagecave*com/richie79/1942florencegracesaundersandcharleshenrysaunders*jpg You can see it clearly there and it does look very similar indeed to the one the little girl is wearing. Not proof I suppose, but certainly makes me think you are onto something there....

Hi Richard - I haven't looked at the photos (I SHOULD be sorting out the contents of my filing cabinet, currently 'doubling' as carpet, to find one elusive piece of paper for the tax accountant) - but if you can see her ears - compare them. Ears never change their shape (although they keep growing as long as we live) and is one of the main checking points to establish that photos are of the same person!! Hope this helps Victoria

I haven't been to look at the photos but just wanted to add about the locket - remember that that could also be a family heirloom and passed down to daughters in the family so whilst the person may look the same, it could still be a different member of the family.....
