Hello could someone please tell me the easiest and quickest way to order birth/marriage/death certs. Can you use ref and/or names? Your help is appreciated xx

Kimberley, I usually order mine directly from the local Register Office. This is especially useful if you have any query about the certificate you are ordering. For example you can ask the RO to verify parent's names for a birth certificate or check the ages of a couple for a marriage certificate etc. Most Register Offices will do a 5 year search. The cost of all certificates is £7.00. Annette

This question came up the other evening. Most people said the cost was £7 but someone else and me have been charged £10. It was my grandfathers certificate and I didn't need any extras so why? GK

If you order on-line at the GRO it costs £7 if you have the referenece. Make sure you tick the box to this effect, near the bottom of the first page, it is easy to miss.Otherwise it is £10.
