I've come across this website: www(.)electoralrolluk(.)co(.)uk Has anyone used it? Is it good? What actually do you get for the 'The ULTIMATE Unlimited Search'? - GBP70.75 Can I look up for example who lived at '13 Acton Street, Bradford' in 1920 or who lived next door on the most current roll. Subject to the person having a voting right and not opting out of the public register of course. What information can I expect to see? Any advice or opinions are most welcome. John

Its rubbish and people have been ripped off- for free lookups try b4usearch first but you need to enter a location......then there is 192 which you can get an idea of who is about before spending on credits, and there are free location maps on it plus some free directory entries..........and after that the best by far but is only worth having for a very important one off lookup or for serious long term use is Tracesmart -the latter has a DOB database that links in with the roll record.

Many thanks for the advice. Can I ask, will b4usearch or 192 help if I want a 1920 lookup?

Just had a quick look, it looks as though none of the above mentioned (inc: Tracesmart) will let me do early 1900 lookups. Is there anywhere else I can go online to get what I want? It's not possible for me to visit the U.K. at the moment.

NO WAY.......you dont get electoral role records online other than recent years say 2003 onwards....... You would need to contact the library or records office that relates to the area in question-I had to do this for the carlisle area recently for 1938-library policies and willingness etc varies. What area?

The main resources for that period would be City or trade Directories(avilablity varies) and the Old electoral Roles(availability varies)........this country is the most open of all countries for records but getting these online is just too much ....the volumes for just 1970-2000 for liverpool alone take up 8 x 5ft shelves .

I guess I will have to contact Bradford Library then! I have a bit of info, as follows (I wont go into the whole story as it will take sometime). Address and date interested in is: 13 Acton Street, Bradford - c1920. Names interested in: William Nelson (Blacksmith) & Sarah Jane Nelson (nee Bennion). Above details found on a Will. I am trying to trace the above's adopted son - William (Reinhardt) Nelson who was born in 1913 (Leeds). I haven't got much to go on so am trying to obtain as much info as I can on the places where he and his adopted parents lived. Have to pop out now, so will look back later. Cheers, John
