I have Francis Page Goulson b 1888 Lincoln in my tree, just found a medal card for Francis P Goulson Royal Field Artillery. I haven't found anything after 1901 for Francis,is it worth the download, and several Goulson names appear with the same reference, presumably i might miss some on the download? Glen

You should get about half a dozen on the down load. what I found...... when trying to work out whaich was mine needd the records at Kew. After a quick look and no dates with me ( I looked as I had time rather than one of the things I I had on the list to look at) threw me. 99% certain now that Hubbies GGF was in RA ( marriage cet) but somewher along the line re regd under another name... Nooone has a clue why ( gawd whis FIL was alive he apparently knew all the family gossip) it was found out and then the record carried on. I would say that you would need to try and look at the burnt and unburnt records just in case.

I haven't really looked into this chap beyond the census returns,i'm working forwards on his line (he descends from my 2xg g/m). What made me curious was that the name is quite unusual, and the Goulson name isn't that well researched (on GR at least, most of the Goulson entries are mine). I haven't found a marriage or anything for him (haven't really looked too hard yet),but wondered if it was worthwhile getting the card. Doubtless if it is my chap there will be something i could use at a later date? Glen

There isn't an awful lot of information on medal cards. Some details here: http://www.1914-1918.net/mics.htm

At £3.50 for the download, it's not really expensive and you might find something of interest on there, however small. Also as its an iuncommon name, you might find more than one rellie on the same page. I'd go for it! Lynn

Thanks for the replies I think he most likely is my chap, quite an uncommon nane (there can't be that many, and each generation seemed to continue the names of ancestors). I just stumbled across it by accident when searching some names on the NA website,i have a few Goulson wills from the 1700 and 1800's. Now to decide what to get next, this or a couple more interesting Hay entries i found. Glen
