Gillian I would recommend that you download PAF (personal ancestral file) from www.familysearch.org It's free software and dead easy to use. Should you want to upgrade at a later date you can export the information to another lot of software. nell |

Sounds like I have been following your way of filing, big blue folder, nothing punched or put in folders, or in fact any sort of order at all. When you come to look for something its a matter of going through every bit of paper. However, I will take the other offer of advice and search on filing and see what comes up. thanks to both of you. Mags next to the bed on the floor...... books here there and everywhere but mostly in the bathroom. I'm told and I will obey one day to have folders or box files for each family... Honestly I will......... |

Hi Gillian There are so many ways of storing/filing information. If you put the word 'filing' in the thread search (at the top of the board) it will link you to several threads on the subject. The best thing i can say is however much storage space you have it isn't enough. Glen |

Being fairly news to this and having gathered quite a lot of info, I would be interested to learn how you file your information so it can be found at a later date. |
