Hi Valerie, Why do we do this? It's quite sad at times when you see the amount of babies and young children who died in infancy, or the elderly who ended up in the workhouse. Life was darned tough in those times, but then I think it's a bit too easy now. And I don't know about you but, some times, some of these deaths seem to be just passed over and forgotten, especially the parish burials when they hired mourners to stand round the grave. Getting morbid, I'm off. Gloria

hi Gloria I know they used to hide from the rent man so maybe they had asked this family to look after her for a while its sad really as the baby died the following year.

You cannot go around losing babies, it's not nice. Glad you've had success, very often a name or even an inital can be a vital clue. Gloria

I dont know who might remember but some time ago I could not find my Nan her Husband and 2 children on the 1901 census . Knew where the baby who was born in March 1901 according to her birth cert, so searched that address, finally found the family with some help on here all living under an assumed surname, but no baby Lilian . I have looked on and off for her never found anything . Well I am about 99% sure have found her on 1901 living with another couple under another assumed name, same name Lilian C hers was Lilian Celia. I have searched for a birth of a baby with her names and surname nothing for that period, either birth marriage or death. So would you say I have finally found her ??? the new father was born in the same area as her dad Finsbury, and I am sure its his brother also under an assumed surname .What a mess my lot were wonder why they were hiding from ???
