Thanks for that, I hope you didn't think it was too trivial. I wonder why they just didn't say Granddaughter ort Grandson! Richard must have been a very tolerant father, another of my Grandmother's ancestors had a child outside of marriage and she was banished to the Workhouse and never allowed home again - and that was 40 years later!! Thank again Lyndsey

It says 'daur son' for the first one (ie, daughter's son) and then do (for ditto) son or do daughter. nell

Hi, it's me again! I'm looking at an entry for Richard Brooks, Meesden, Hertfordshire aged 70, page 7, 2nd household down. Also listed is his daughter Ann and below her, her 4 illigitimate children!! In the 'Relation to Head of Family' column it says something before the word son and it's that word I can't read. I'm curious as to how the children have been described! Many thanks Lyndsey
