You should be, I have been on about them long enough. Sorry to bore you again but need to pick brains. I spent 4 hours at Taunton record office and noted all Warners born in relevant years with a good overlap. There were a lot!!! Please see below Ann glos

Basically I was trying to sort out which children belonged to which John and Hannah Warner (there were two). I mostly did this with a few i didn't get to as I ran out of time! The John Warners were a shoemaker/cordwainer and a labourer. On My Gtx2 Grandfather's (Robert warner) marrriage cert his father is John warner labourer and I found him OK with John labourer born N Petherton jan 1819. I also was trying to find which John warner on the tree Hannah Jennings married in 1809. Hannah Warner (born 1788) was on the 1851 living with Robert her son a widow but had disappeared by 1861, John Warner and Hannah Warner cordwainer were on the 1841 and 1851 together. Today I received a death cert in 1838 for John Warner aged 60 (1777) labourer, the informant was Hannah Warner widow. There was, according to Parish records only one John Warner born in N Petherton and surrounding area in 1777. Son of William and Mary. I also received the death certificate for Hannah warner aged 65 (1788) in 1853. The informant was Mary Ann warner (Robert's wife) but the occupation says widow of John warner butcher. Now I am confused because nowhere has the occupation of butcher come up before at all. What are the chances that either the informant or the registrar either made a mistake or John warner helped out in a butcher's shop just before he died so went down as butcher instead of labourer. And I want to know why nothing is ever straightforward with this family!!! Thanks for listening and all help will be much appreciated. Ann Glos

Hi Ann, I have someone in my tree who was listed in every census as a coal dealer or carrier but on some of his children's marriage certs he was a baker. They seemed to change their occupations or have several different ones and a labourer could have worked anywhere, couldn't he? Sorry, not much help, lol. Heather

Ann A butcher did not alwyas mean a shop keeper - it often just meant a slaughterer of animals which some deemed to be a labourer. I have had this problem before. Jan
