I've got a message telling me to look at my Beta Tree which is a new tree by Genes Reunited. Has anyone else had this message and does it replace the two previous tree versions? Janet.

Haven't had the message yet, but I've just been to have a look. It appears to be a slightly redesigned version of the present Tree Builder page. It doesn't actually seem to have any additional functions as far as I can see, but newbies may find it easier to understand. You can access it by clicking on Family Tree at the top of this page, and then on ' Click here to access the new Beta tree'.

'Find in tree' doesn't seem to work.

Aagghh - not trying that again. Tried searching for John Steel, and it brought up no John Steels but half a dozen people called John M. I have nothing like that in my tree, so I clicked on one of them to see what happened. Bad idea - it changed one of my John Steels to John with no surname and the letter M instead of the year of birth. The original John Steel seems to be OK on the ordinary Tree Builder page, but I won't be trying that again in a hurry.

I'm sending some feedback to GR. It may be because I'm using an oldish version of Opera, but they should design it to work with all browsers.

Just tried it with the latest version of Firefox - it's very hard to type anything into the Find in Tree box, because it keeps disappearing, but when I eventually managed, it brought up all the John M's again instead of John Steel. Needless to say, I didn't click on them this time. I hope they'll get their spelling sorted out - it says Photo's in huge letters.

'Change parents' seems to have vanished, but it's very important if you find that you've given a child the wrong parents - e.g. because there was a second wife you didn't know about.
