I have a similar one for 1876. Mine mentions 4 days labour. In my case, I found a baby daughter baptised the day that her mother died. The baby survived. Gwyn

wow I always thought confinement was just used as a term for unwed women being sent away to have illigitimate children. Guess I was wrong.

I have just received my gt gt grandmothers death cert. The cause of death is given as confinement, exhaustion, certified. Is this something to do with childbirth? She was 37 the year was 1872. Thanks Karen
