Elaine Yes, thankyou, I already had the baptisms from the Parish Registers. Just goes to illustrate though, how the originals win over the IGI transcriptions everytime - on the original, William's occupation and general address is given for each child - it was this which threw me a bit! Melanie You are going to regret your offer! My Great great grandmother was born in Gawsworth in 1864 and I have managed to follow her lines back to the early 1500s. What I am desperate to get hold of is information about Mollards Farm and why it was sold in the 1860s (probably railway connected?). Are there any local history buffs in Gawsworth, do you know? Incidentally, I have Lawtons from Gawsworth - does Daniel Lawton, 1700-1768 ring your bell? Thanks everyone - you have helped me tie up an irritating loose end. OC

Zoe Thankyou so much for your offer, but I have managed to find most of them by other means! They are my relatives, but they are so far removed from me that I dont feel justified in wasting anyone's time on them. Just shows how the mighty are fallen - William's 3 x GGF was a big landowner and an important man back in the late 1600s. Thanks again. OC

I am trying to work out whether I have one, two or even three couples called William and Lucy Stubbs. They have umpteen children, but the father's occupation differs wildly for two of them - he is a farmer, of North Rode, for the births of Mary Ann, 1824 and Elizabeth 1826. For the births of all the others he is either a farm servant or a labourer, of Gawsworth or Buglawton. William was born about 1795 - Lucy not known (I cannot find a marriage). A key child to look for might be Henshaw (Henshall) born 1833 at Buglawton. Will be very grateful for any help on this niggling problem! Thanks OC
