Please also take note that although this is a free site, the owner of the site requests a donation of one postcard.... ********************** John Feltham, the list's owner / manager, exacts a fee of one postcard per list member per year. The postcard should show 'local' scenes - the definition of local is fairly fluid! To what arcane purpose does John put these postcards? He donates them to the school where he used to teach, to give pupils a wider and more interesting view of the world. ************************* What a lovely idea!

I'm glad I put this up now, I just came across it by accident about an hour ago while 'googling' my ancestors names. I haven't seen a site like this before where you can download so much information. Sandra

Thanks for that Sandra, what a brilliant site. I have yet to research my Fathers side, who we believe to originate from Swindon. This will be more than a little useful.

If you look on www.ukbmd.org.uk they have lists of resources by county as well as by type. They may not have every type of link - and they defer to Genuki - but it's one of my Favourites. Christine

Is there anything like that for Hampshire and Dorset?

It's good, isn't it? I discovered that one of the ringleaders of the Swing Riots was an ancestor. I now have a transcript of his trial.

I have just come across a good site for people researching their ancestors from Wiltshire. http://www.moonrakers.org.uk/index.asp
