I have just received a birth certificate that states the mother as Elvia Bell later Henry formerly Bywater .Does anyone know what this means?

I suggest it means her maiden name was Bywater, she married a Henry, lost him and married a Bell.

thank you I did think that. Now all I need to do is find Elvia in the census records! She is part of my family of Bells that came from outer space!!
