The other hazard is that they may not have been over 21, but just said so so that they didn't have to demonstrate parental consent! Christine

Of full age means over 21. x his mark means he didn't sign his name but made his mark. Possibly because he couldn't write but not always. Heather

Full age means anything over 21. Or supposed to be unless they were telling porkies! X his mark means the person signed with an X. Does not necessarily mean they couldn't write, but usually assumed to be the case. Anne
