I think you should find your passengers here - there are lots of passengers listed for the Ascendant in 1855, although there's no exact date given: http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/indexes/searchform.aspx?id=4 |

You can find the departure and arrival dates here for a voyage which arrived on 25/2/1855: http://www.blaxland*com/ozships/plist.htm (replace asterisk with dot) arrival: Ascendant Origin: 17th Nov 1854 Southampton Destination: 25th Feb 1855 |

This may be the right ship, but there's only a crew list, not a passenger list: http://mariners.records.nsw.gov.au/1855/03/003asc.htm There are more lists you can try in the Passenger Lists thread on the Records Office board. |

Has anybody ever looked, and successfully found, a passenger list for the 'Ascentant' which sailed to NSW Australia on 25/2/1855. I'm afraid I don't know the departure port but they lived in Hertfordshire if that provides any clues. The NA site says that most passenger lists for sailings between 1776 - 1889 did not survive.
