When I select 1851 census and put in 'Balls' in the last name and Yarmouth as place of residence and place of birth it brings up only two hits However, if I put in Norfolk as birthplace and residence it brings up dozens of them born and living in Yarmouth-and no, so far, I have not got a connection to Golden, Christmas or Cannon Balls yet, but then it is early days! Is this something new with Ancestry because I'm sure that I managed to access them through the town only on previous occasions. |

I normally avoid unticking that box! It generally throws up every person in England but the one you want. Oh well, something else to take up my time and to think I thought it was only the transcribers who were trying to keep me on my toes. Jennie |

Too much information often reduces the hits, leave the exact match box ticked and try just a search on just Yarmouth for the birth place, then do it again with just Yarmouth for the residence and see the difference. Jennifer |
