I have the same problem as you Angela, my gran was married 1915, it says on the marriage cert. that her husbands father was deceased but not her father. So I have done the same as you and trailed through all the BMD index.......still haven't found him.......think he's still alive.. lol Jean |

Do you think it might have been Alonzo himself who went to Canada? Could explain the lack of death details. |

Also my Auntie Eileen insists that my grandad Cecil Joseph Arthur Binch (her dad) had either a Half brother or step brother (she cant remember) called Charlie Patterson who emigrated to Canada she can remember him coming back to visit her dad when she was a kid she also has letters from him to her Aunt May (my great aunt) So either Alonzo remarried or he died and my great nanna remarried (unless it was just grandads friend and Auntie Eileen just thought it was her Uncle) stress or wot lol. Now onto 1908 |

Hi Angela, I have had feedback from others on this site, re fathers being deceased. Just because it doesn't say that they are deceased it doesn't mean that they arn't already the 'D' word!! I have had several certs giving the fathers name and the occupation on a marriage cert, only to learn that they had been deceased years before the marriage took place. Hope this helps Fuzzy x |

YOu may have to search further than 1950. If he was born in 1872 ish then he could have lived into the 1970's??? He was still alive in 1901. |

Hi Teresa thank u xxxx His name was Alonzo Walter Binch b dec 1872 at Radford Nottingham. Tho he did swap the name round at some point calling himself Walter Aonzo Binch then dropped the Alonzo altogether so ended up Walter Binch ive searched from 1923 upto 1950 and havnt found a death yet. The reason I started in 1923 is cus thats whn my grand parents married and it didnt say on the cert that he was dead. Thank u for helping me xxxx I really appreciate this xx |

Angela, if you give us names dates and places it will help people to search for you, a fresh pair of eyes often helps. |

How common is it for people to leave off that the father was deceased on thier marriage cert? the reason im asking is my grandparents marriage cert it says my nanna's father is deceased but doesnt say the same for my grandads dad. But ive been searching for the last 2 hours and can't find a death. |
