John Harl (c1790) married Prudence Prior (born 1789 Much Hadham, Herts) about 1807. First child born 1808 Norwich, Norfolk. Have searched for a marriage in Much Hadham and Norwich with no luck. I'm also trying to find John Harl's birth place and was hoping the marrige information would help. John Harl died before 1841 Census so no good looking there for birth details Any suggestions as to where I should look now. Wendy

1841 census would only tell you if he was born in the county where he was living at the time, so its not a great help. Have you looked on the Norfolk Transcription Archive www.genealogy.doun.org/transcriptions/index.php

He died before 1841 so isn't on the census. Yes I've been on that site and I the Norfolk Marriage Index and nothing there. Wendy

Or you could do a blanket search on the surname on familysearch and Ancestry and see if there's a definite geographical cluster of them and start there!

Presumably you have already tried on Family Search (the IGI)? Kate.
