So he isn't on the census Jackie, he was born after it was taken. Perhaps we can find his father with the clue of his occupation. Where in the country was Charles born? Anne |

And even if he WAS on the census, he couldn't have been on his own...how would the enumerator have known his name? OC |

I've had a quick look but can't see any William Simmonds (or Simmons) in Winchester. None of the ones in Hampshire have the occupation of coalman/merchant either. However his occupation may well have changed from the time of Charles' birth to the time of his marriage. Its difficult for you but don't give up. Sorry I have to get to bed now - early start tomorrow! Anne |
