can someone tell me how to find out my grt grandmothers maiden name when the name I have is in BIG doubt & she was born in Ireland & the father was too .He is my family link but i would like to find out how to do this for future times I can of course match him up to my grandparents ,but with common first & family names & the inability to match her details up with 2 brothers of hers living with them at various times I can't be sure I am on the right path .Thanks to gloria for contacting me recently re this situation .I seem to have lost her contact Nancy |

You don't say WHEN she was born, or whether and when they moved. If she married after 1864 in Ireland you should be able to get the marriage certificate which would have her maiden name on it. If she married in England after 1837 same applies. Her maiden name would also appear on the birth certs of any of her children if they were born after these dates. nell |
