see below having picked up my certs from local RO (an hour after ordering them!) I think I might have one wrong one.Does having the time of birth always mean twins? this is the first one I've had with time on, oh by the way it's 1841

Just pre-empting your first post,a time is not a guarantee of twins. Some (but not many certs) have a time when the birth was not for twins. Glen

Just as a thought, perhaps there were twins and one was very ill, perhaps only living for a very short while. I guess that there might be an entry under 'male *surname* ' (or female for a girl obviously).I have a few like that in my tree where the youngster died when only a day or two old,and yes in three instances they were a twin (i think i have 8 or 9 sets in my tree) Perhaps the parents quoted on the cert might come up on a parent search on the IGI?Anything likely on the 1841 (don't tell me......... it is after the census night) Glen
