Hi Chris My mum was adopted and I added her twice, once as her birth name and then as her adoptive name. It means I can include the adoptive family ( which I know aren't blood rellies!!!!!!) who are also important in my life. I had 2 trees but it got too complicated. It does get complicated on one tree if the birth and adoptive families merge in previous generations though! best wishes, Jo |

If you are trying to combine both birth and adoptive parents in the one tree on GR you can't do it. Only one set of parents can be shown. You could add an adopted child to parents, though the relationship will appear the same as any other you could make a note in the notes section to clarify the relationship. The alternative is to have a secone tree (non paying membership) and have the second tree as the alternative family. If you use another software programme (such as Family Tree Maker) you can show both natural and adoptive parents to one child. Glen |

Can anyone tell me how to add adoptive parents to a tree, or indeed an adopted child? Chris. |
