I've got a family that I've been searching for on the Census' for weeks and not been able to find mistranscribed or not. Daughter is Charlotte Cosham b. 1844 Lewis Sussex Dad is John Cosham I've got Charlotte on the 1871 after she married Thomas West Goble but have been unable to find either her or her father prior to that. Thanks for anything you can find. Helen --x--

This appears to be her birth registration Births Mar 1844 COSHAM Charlotte Lewes 7 435 might be worthwhile getting certificate to find mother´s name as well.

Hi Philip - yes I´m fine. Think you might need the birth certificate for this one - an´t see anything obvious on census.

Jess the original for that 1851 sure looks like Cosham to me. But it is rather far out for the year. On the other hand theres no 1839 birth on free BMD Gillian that's a good possibility. But she'd still be on the census with dad's name right?

Elaine, I think you may be right. I better work extra hard so I can afford more certs lol.

If mother had remarried it is possible that she is shown with the new husband´s surname on the census - but then reverted to her birth name when she married. If you can find mother´s name from birth certificate it might be able to trace a possible 2nd marriage.
