Sounds like you have all had a lot of trouble with the passport authorities, I wonder how she got away with a wrong date of birth, I actually have her birth cert here with me now, but she doesnt know that. And no Merry it isnt me !!!! What was funny we went with her to the Solicitors to sign for her(my) inheritance and she actually said to me which Wedding Ring shall I wear ????? excuse me WHICH one???she had about 4 put one on and said that will do, when we came back off it went back into her Jewellery box!!!!!!!!!

Yes, you've had to supply a birth certificate for a loooong time now. My first passport was in my maiden name and then when I was getting married I applied for a new one in my married name which was sent directly to the Vicar who handed it over once the ceremony was over!! Victoria

Glen will know all about this sort of problem. When I renewed my passport two years ago - having lost the one that showed me as a girl of 15, I was then 60 - I had to produce my marriage licence, my divorce papers, my birth cert. i.e. adoption cert. my original birth cert showing my birth name, and also proof that my adoptive father was British born - luckily being a hoarder although not a very organised one, I was able to produce a lot of his wartime RAF memorabilia, and a family bible from his side going back to 17 something. All this had to be produced at the Glasgow passport office in person, a round trip of about 8 hours, in order to get a passport to allow me to go on a day-trip friend's reitrement booze cruise to France!!!!!! Merry My REAL date of birth is on my Passport - I couldnt avoid that! But I hand over my passport closed and always wear a large cape so I can stretch my arms out and conceal the passport from the idle prying eyes of my daughters. At all other times it is locked in the bank vault. OC

Valerie I got a new passport six years ago and shall not forget the trauma for a very long time! Not only did I have to produce my birth certificate, I also had to produce BOTH sets of divorce papers - my first divorce was in 1970! I argued that I could not have married for the second time without showing my divorce from the first time, if you see what I mean (my second marriage cert shows me as previous marriage dissolved and gives my married name and my maiden name) They would not budge from this. By sheer good fortune, not only had I kept my first divorce papers, but I actually found them!(I didnt know I'd kept them!) I must add that I am straightforward as a die, my life is an open book and I have nothing to hide - they seem to enjoy picking on the easy targets and let the real fraudsters get away with it. OC

I cannot say too much except you know the so called Aunt of mine(she says she married my dads Brother )hummm She has inherited a fortune which I have been told should have been left to my Uncle, a very long story. Anyway we have been helping her out as she is going to come and live near us. She got a Form to apply for a Passport and it seems after a certain age, I believe it said if you were born before 1929 you could get a free extended one. I filled in the form for her and as I am not supposed to know her date of birth , although I do, I asked her what it was to put on the form, she was very cagey and produced this Passport which has a different birth date to her birth cert, hummm , not only that she had several Passports to choose from, hummm. I said you know you have to send this up with the form and if its wrong you will be refused, she said not to worry, she had done it before years ago and nobody questioned it. I am sure you have to produce a birth cert for your first Passport and after that I suppose they believe you ?????

If you are renewing your passport you have to send the old one in, so if you want the dob altered they will probably want some proof that the one you want is correct. Not sure about 50 years ago, but I do know that now they are much more stringent and fussy. nell

If you have some explaining to do !!!! it may be a good idea to either phone up or nip down to your local passport office to explain in person. Good luck but we're all intrigued :0)) Jen

Very intrigued val.......I sent off recently for a first passort for my eldest son, he had previously been on mine....I had to send off his birth cert with the application....sure it would have been the same years ago as they would have had to check you were who you said you were etc. Hope this helps fuzzy x

The first time you apply for a Passport, say about 50 years or so ago , would you have to produce your Birth Cert ???, I cannot remember now so long ago. If not what else would you have to show.I know you can renew it ,but would you have to put the same date of Birth as you did on the first or would you get refused. I have very good reason for asking this thanks.
