Reg, at this moment in time I'm not sure who she is or where she was born. This branch of the family came mostly from Cambs., and Hunts. The 1841 Census states that she was born in Cambs., but that isn't necessarily the truth. She could have been born anywhere. Needles in haystacks! M. Steer |

Thankyou all, so very much, for your replies. There's a lot of info., for me to digest but I'm sure one of you have found her. The name is unusual - I've found it spelled Splevin/s, Spleving/s, Splovin and on one Census S with a big smudge of ink. The 1841 Census for Croxton indicates that she was born in Cambs., but she may well have been born in Hunts. My particular thanks to Fuzzy. M. Steer |

http://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/leisure/archives/what/hrs/ margaret, I have enclosed this web address for you, it will take you to the cambridgeshire records office web site, on the right hand side is a link to a form which you can fill in with the details of what you want them to look into for you. I have done this for the Derbyshire Records office they charged me £11.00 per half hour. I looked at the charge for the cambridgeshire records office and it is £15.00 per half hour or £25.00 for an hour. It is expensive but may be worth your while if you get no further leads from the good folks on here. Good Luck Fuzzy |

Margaret, Have looked on Ancestry parish records for cambridgeshire and there is only a marriage of a Matthew Splevins to a Mary I found this info on ancestry and I am assuming it is your Williams Death info Name: William Splevins Birth: abt 1798 Death: Dec 1879 - Caxton, Cambridgeshire, Huntingdonshire it is such an unusual name, I have tried family search, but no joy yet Fuzzy |

Does anyone have access to Croxton (Cambridgeshire) Parish Records? I'm trying to find out my Gt.Gt.Gt.Grandmother's maiden name. Laetitia (Letty) was born c.1797. She married William Splevins (Splevings). Any info., would be much appreciated - I've come to a 'dead end'. M. Steer |
