I found that family as well on 1861 census. The only evidence I have on him is his sons wedding certificate in which he is stated as Alfred Higginbottom (deceased). Maybe they changed the surname for a couple of decades and the H is Higginbottom? It all seems very wierd. I'd just found the 1881 entry. I will see what it was in 1871 now, if I can find it! Same family are on 1881 as Yarwood. Does Alfred senior have a middle name as on 1881 there is 'H' for a middle name - also against Martha. Maureen

Thinking about it Maureen it could explian why they all have an initial Y in their name if it was Yarwood. How odd! I wonder why they would change names?! L

Thanks to everyone. I have got him under ancestry with the different spelling now. Looking the original it is fairly hard to see if its Higginbotton or Higginbotham although I think its the second. I knew dad was Abert and he had siblings Robert, George and Alice. I will be checking out earlier census' now. Thanks again Lyndsay

I am lookin for Albert Higginbottom born 1892 in Hyde, Cheshire. He is prooving quite elusive. I can't find him on ancestry but he is on 1901 census on the original site and on here. I am desperately trying to find some evidence of him and his parents for my mother in law who has justed started her family tree but is stuck with him already. Please help Lyndsay
