I am trying to find a marriage for a Henrietta Shaw. She moved down to England from Scotland in the 1920s. I know she went to live in Ireland as I have a letter that was sent back to relatives in Scotland. Her husbands name in Ireland was I belive Smilie. I just wondered if anyone could check to see if she married him or someone else in England. I am only registered with Scotlands People as most of amy ancestors are Scottish. Any help would do. By the way she was born in 1903 Inverness Scotland. Thankyou Julie

Have checked the marriages on Ancestry from 1920-1929 there are several marriages for Henrietta Shaw, but none to a Smiley. JoJo

Hi JoJo Thanks for the info, was there a lot of Henrietta Shaw marriages?as there is a possibilty that Smiley could have been a second marriage. The reason I am trying to find out is that she could have had an illegimate daughter who from toddler age was brought up by my family. I was told that my g grandfather went down to England to get this child and her mother maybe then moved to Ireland and married Smiley. As family say that my g grandfather used to take the child over to Ireland to visit Henrietta so I am putting two and two together and assuming the child was hers. I am not sure about searging English records. Is there any possible way of finding out childs birth I guess it was around 1925 Thanks Julie

Hi Jo Just been through the info you sent. I think I need to have some more detailted info before I can go any further on this name. Thank you. There is another name I cannot seem to find in Scotland that maybe connected. That is Catherine Jane Kerr. It is a possiblity that the child who came into our family could of belonged to her. I am wondering if Catherine was the mother and she died in England. Do you think it is worth my while subscribing to Ancestry etc. As I have said before all my research is done on Scotlands people and wonder if I will find anymore. There is only so much you can expect anyone else to do for you. Thankyou Julie
