Several members of my family are members here and we have an extensive family tree researched over years by my grandfather. I've now uploaded these and want to share the data with other family members so that any additional info any of us add propogates around. I can't believe thats not possible here! It can't be that complicated to code and the way it is defeats the whole purpose of this being online. If I find a new great great great uncle, how on earth is that going to be different for my brother, my father or my uncle etc ? Its the same family tree! Surely we should have the option to allow trees to be literally shared with close relations, as well as just viewable to others ? Is this something planned for some stage ? Simon |

Yes, but what you are suggesting is that other people could edit your tree. There are enough problems with wrong info as it is, no thanks. |

Surely GR is just a Tool and our Offline Trees are where the actual work is done. I prefer to send selected parts of my Tree to proven rellies. After all, a descendant of my mum's 9th ggdad has no possible link to my Dad's family, nor my Ex's. |

It did used to be possible to link trees, I had 2 idiots who made the links without proving they were related at all, just same names. I couldn't get rid of them, they needed to remove them. It infuiated me like hell. So for now, I'm pleased we can't! but I can see your point! Suex |

Yes I hadn't really thought about people being a bit reckless with making connections - or having dodgey info to start with. In an ideal world.... I've joined Tribal Pages now which seems to work well in combination with this site - you can't really complain for a total of £20 a year. Simon |
