Is he the one buried in Blankenberge? A medal card might show date of birth? Does he give his age on marriage cert - what other details are on there? Dea x |

he is 19 on the cert, but cannot find an entry on Ancestry for him (even 2 yrs either side) His Fathers name is Edward Forshaw and was a Cotton operative. They lived in Bamber Bridge, Walton- le- Dale, Preston. Yes he is the one in Blankenburg. where would i get the medal card? |

Kelly can y ou give an idea of the correct dates please. i.e. teh year of his marriage and what the year of birth should be calculated from this. There are possibilities that he may be recorded under another name (if his parents weren't married at the time of his birth) or in a different index (if he was born overseas for some reason) It's difficult to attempt to solve the missing birth reference without an idea of the timeframe e.g. if we knew he was supposedly born in 1920 then we could search for the years after 1920 for his parents marriage which would lead to him being registered under his mothers maiden name Zoe |

okay - with a 1918 end-of-war birth I would defintely be looking for a birth out of wedlock first - which would be registered under his mothers name. if you have no idea of his mothers name then the first step is to look for marriages for the father and match up to get a list of possible spouses - personally I would start in 1918 and work forward. if Forshaw turns out to be a common name then it could be a lengthy procedure Zoe |

KELLY - it is very naughty of you to post this thread on here, when you already have a near identical request on the records board. (1891/1901 census lookup preston. Thread 6385343) If nothing else, you could have made it clear that you had 2 threads running on separate boards. I've spent an hour with your Edward and John Forshaw this morning - looks like I should have done something else with my time. Jools |
