Doing research on both my and my husband's tree I have discovered a coincidence. He was born and brought up in Buckfastleigh South devon, I was born and brought up in Fareham Hampshire, we met when he joined the Navy and was stationed in Fareham. I already knew that my Mother's family originated in North Petherton Somerset, My Gt Gt Grandfather left there in the 1860s to move to Portsmouth. I found last night that my husband's Mother's family also originated in North petherton Somerset, His Grandfather left Somerset to go to Wales c 1900. So they lived in the same village up until 1861 at least. North Petherton was not that big in those days so they must have known each other. How strange. Ann Glos

I bet you're now feverishly going through every record under the sun to see if you are distantly related!!!! (Been there, done that, lolol!) On a similar note, I discovered that my husband's great great grandfather lived for over 10 years in exactly the same house that my father's sister lived in all her adult life until she died a few years back. Funny how these things happen ...................!!!

Perhaps it's something in the genes! Recognition..... maybe that's why we marry who we marry or meet a stranger and seem to know them. Perhaps there is more to all this than any of us realise. M

We've found a few similar coincidence's too but the most recent for us was.. Hubby's Great Aunt (Grandfathers older sister) was Married to My GGG Uncle (2xG Grandmothers youngest brother) This means his second cousins are also my 1st cousins 3 times removed. Shaz

Gwen, this is the reply I posted. thanks Gwen, i found it by accident in the end!!! When I saw George I thought that meant he was the only one missed the image icon. anyway I trawled the lists and found her. But I think it is 5c not 6, looked for another Bridgewater and that was 5c, 6 seems to be up in the midlands and 5 in the S West. I hope iit is 288 but I can't make it any different so will have to hope for the best. Many thanks for your help, and for the help with ancestry, I do now have full membership, trial runs out today and I was beginning to wonder if it was worth it, but I guess it is. I have sent for the cert hoping it is the right one. Only hope I can find her birth when I visit the rO in somerset. Ann Glos
